Anne Hathaway’s pregnant belly makes red carpet debut in custom dress: ‘Anne + 1’ – USA TODAY
The devil may wear Prada, but expectant mom Anne Hathaway wore Brandon Maxwell when she arrived for the opening night of “Sea Wall/A Life” on Broadway Thursday.
The play, which runs through Sept. 29 at the Hudson Theatre according to the venue’s website, stars Hathaway’s “Love & Other Drugs” and “Brokeback Mountain” co-star, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Tom Sturridge.
Hathaway’s baby bump was on display in a halter-neck, magenta dress, accentuated with three cut-outs. It turns out the dress was made just for the “Serenity” actress, the designer shared on Instagram Thursday.
“Gorgeous mama to be and positively one of the nicest people on planet earth, @annehathaway wears custom #brandonmaxwell to tonight’s broadway debut of @seawallalife,” Maxwell wrote. “One of the greatest joys of our job is getting to work with expectant mothers during this special period in their lives, especially because we have a few new moms at our office!”

On July 27, Hathaway shared a sweet surprise the designer left in the garment.
“@brandonmaxwell, as if it wasn’t enough you custom-made me and the bump a knockout dress, you put this tag in it,” she captioned a photo on Instagram highlighting the dress’ “Anne + 1” tag. “Thank you, new friend”
Hathaway revealed on the social media platform just days earlier that she and husband Adam Shulman were expecting. They are already parents to 3-year-old son Jonathan.
“It’s not for a movie…#2” she wrote of the black and white photo showing off her bump. “All kidding aside, for everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love”
In an interview with The Associated Press, she shared she “didn’t just wave a magic wand” and conceive. “It’s more complicated than that.”
She also explained the motivation for the language of her pregnancy reveal post.
“I was just aware of the fact that when it came time to post that I was pregnant, somebody was going to feel even more isolated because of it,” she said. “And I just wanted them to know they have a sister in me.”
